The story behind Wesley Hotel

The name Wesley Hotel was inspired from Seberang Perai’s originate name – Province Wellesley which was named after Richard Colley Wesley (1798 – 1805) by Sultan Abdullah. Province Wellesley was originally administered from Penang Island in the 19th Century. The strategic development of Province Wellesley took a backseat to that of George Town and Penang Island after 1969. “Wesley” was the original name of the British statesman (1760-1842) and government official.
